Introduction.
Act Now Uganda, under Mambya Foundation, conducted a community outreach initiative aimed at providing support, encouragement, and essential care to vulnerable groups within healthcare facilities. The outreach focused on patients receiving treatment and mothers at different stages of maternal care.
Purpose of the Outreach.
The primary purpose of the outreach was to:
- Offer emotional and moral support to patients and mothers.
- Promote hope, dignity, and well-being within healthcare settings.
- Provide basic assistance and encouragement to individuals in need.
- Strengthen community engagement and compassionate care through service.
Outreach at Kiruddu Referral Hospital.
The team visited Kiruddu Referral Hospital, where a total of 100 patients were reached.
Activities Conducted:
- Patient visitation and interaction
- Words of encouragement and emotional support
- Distribution of essential items.
Impact.
The outreach brought comfort and reassurance to patients, many of whom expressed gratitude for the presence and support offered. The engagement contributed to boosting morale and fostering a sense of care and community within the hospital environment.
Outreach at Kisenyi Health Centre IV.
The outreach extended to Kisenyi Health Centre IV, focusing on maternal health. A total of 150 beneficiaries were reached, including pregnant women and mothers who had recently delivered.
Activities Conducted:
- Engagement sessions with mothers
- Encouragement and support on maternal well-being
- Sharing messages of care and hope
Impact.
The initiative provided emotional support and encouragement to mothers, helping to uplift their spirits during a critical stage of motherhood. It also reinforced the importance of community support in maternal health.
Conclusion.
The outreach was successful in reaching a total of 250 beneficiaries across both locations. Act Now Uganda, under Mambya Foundation, continues to demonstrate commitment to community service, compassion, and uplifting lives through meaningful engagement.
Recommendations.
- Continue regular outreach programs to healthcare facilities
- Expand support services to include more essential supplies
- Strengthen partnerships with health centres for greater impact
