Community Activation Day with Mambya Arts Foundation: A Success Story of Collaboration and Impact

On Thursday 18th July 2024 in Katoogo Zone, Bwaise Mambya Arts Foundation held an inspiring Community Activation Day focused on environmental cleanup and tree planting in Kampala. This event, in partnership with grassroots organizations, schools, and local authorities, brought the community together to clear blocked drainage, remove rubbish, and plant trees.

Special thanks go to Florence, Marvin, Angel, and LC 1 Chairman David Luzindana for mobilizing the community, as well as partners like Awamu UK and Tusitukirewamu Bwaise for allowing tree planting at their Catch-Up School.

Professor Dream, brought by Tribe Uganda, mesmerized schoolchildren from Bwaise Parents and Buraq Islamic Primary with his eco-friendly puppet performance, which inspired them to engage in environmental conservation.

The event would not have been complete without the support of Ben Chagga from Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA), who arranged garbage trucks to remove waste and contributed to the success of the day.

Thanks are also extended to the volunteers who played crucial roles, including Kayondo, Harriet, Gahigana Emma, Daphine, John, and the media team from New Vision for covering the event. Other key supporters include @bavubuka for their positive energy and @ventureciti for donations.

As Mambya Arts Foundation looks forward to future collaborations, they are calling for more involvement from communities and organizations in tree planting efforts. If you know of locations to plant, have environmental funding opportunities, or are interested in collaborating, reach out to the team and help spread the word!

Let’s continue making Kampala greener and more sustainable. Webale! 🌳 🌱
