Mambya performing arts foundation is an award-winning development charity. We believe in the power of education to help end poverty through arts, and work to ensure that children in rural areas of Uganda have the best opportunity to learn. Grooming the young to be leaders of tomorrows generation.
Mambya Performing Arts Foundation is based in Kampala, Uganda . It was found in 2013 by Ssenyonga Oscar with the aim to give young African people a platform to express and communicate thoughts and ideas relevant to their respective lives through the performing arts.
Targeted mostly are young dancers and choreographers and aimed at promoting dance in Africa.
Mambya dance company creates and performs a diverse repertoire of dances that range from contemporary dance to hip hop dances with the vibrancy of African traditional dances.
Having gained a wealth of experience through workshops and collaboration with internationally acclaimed choreographers and partners including East African Night of Tolerance (2014), Guerilla Arts, Africa Arts Project, Dance week Festival (2012), Open Creative minds of young people (workshops 2013), UNCC (National Theatre), Beautiful Feet. Among others.
Oscar drew inspiration from all the various workshops and performances and was therefore encouraged for the development of professional dance and choreography in his home country Uganda. This idea became Mambya Dance Company through which will come out to be Mambya International School of dance.
